Equipping a yacht with the correct "fendering system" is of paramount importance and in many cases is somewhat (and alarmingly) overlooked.

Many fine yards and dealers do indeed supply the best, but it is almost the norm that what is initially supplied by the builder/dealer has been dictated by profit margins and in an effort to reduce ever increasing costs.  Owners and Captains often accept the vessel with the equipment supplied.

Protecting the vessel properly needs to be seen as a system which we are referring to as "FENDERIZING".  This comprises several essential components: Fenders, Fender Covers, Fender Lines or Whips, and a means of securing the lines to the vessel, ideally with the use of FENDER HOOKS^©.  The correct collection of fender sizes is not an exact science, but thankfully advice is available from experienced experts.
